Best Photo Spots in Barcelona
Barcelona's most instagrammable attractions
About this guide
We've made a list of the best spots in Barcelona with iconic views. These are the go-to places to brighten your Instagram feed or just create colorful memories about your time in the Catalan capital. We added some recommendations on the best angle to the famous attractions and other tips on how to snap a perfect picture.
Sagrada Familia
🛕 Gaudí's iconic creationDe un lado Para otro, Sergio, Blaze Forsby +1 advisor
The best views of the basilica are from two parks situated next to it. Plaça de Gaudí is located in front of the Nativity façade, where the main entrance to the basilica is. It has a nice pond and allows you to capture the sand castle-like church together with its reflection in the water. Plaça de la Sagrada Família is on the opposite side. It has a nice alley of trees, which opens up directly to the basilica.
Cathedral of Barcelona
🕯️Medieval reliquaryDe un lado Para otro, Sergio, Kate
It is better to visit the Cathedral of Barcelona early if you want to take a good picture without people. We recommend taking two types of photos: one — in front of the main façade — to showcase the intricacy of Gothic architecture and the magnitude of the cathedral, and the other — from the stairs on the left — to better show the volume and scale of the church.
Barceloneta Beach
🏖️ Famous beachDe un lado Para otro, Anastasia, Tengo Alma Viajera
Take a photograph showcasing the unique shape of Hotel Vela (W Hotel), one of the city's landmarks. It's best to shoot some pictures both on the beach and on the palm-lined promenade leading to the hotel. We love it for the lively atmosphere: it is always full of young people playing sports.
Park Güell
🐲 Gaudí's unfinished project turned into picturesque parkDe un lado Para otro, Sergio, Kate +1 advisor
This beautiful park has many photogenic spots. The most notable is the large square in the middle, surrounded by the intricate "trencadís" (mosaic made of chinaware shards) benches. From the square, you can see all of Barcelona with the Mediterranean Sea as a backdrop. Another place we recommend is called Hypostyle Hall. This big room full of columns is located right under the main square. The park is one of the most popular places in Barcelona, so we definitely recommend going early to avoid crowds that could make your photoshoot impossible.
Ciutadella Park
⛲ Public parkDe un lado Para otro, Lance & Dua Pinson , Emanuella Chiconiniz +1 advisor
In the center of the park, there is a grand cascade fountain with gargoyles and a monumental arch with the goddess Aurora on top. The most popular photo location in Parc de la Ciutadella is in front of it. It is a postcard view you definitely shouldn't miss. There are also two grand staircases leading to the arch on both sides of the fountain. We recommend taking a picture from one of these staircases to showcase the intricate details of the monument. The park is large, so arriving early is unnecessary, but we recommend avoiding weekends and evenings.
Bisbe Bridge
🌹 Symbol of the Gothic QuarterDe un lado Para otro, Kate
This Gothic-style bridge was built by Gaudí's disciple Joan Rubió i Bellver in 1928 during the neighborhood's renovation. It connects the Palau de la Generalitat and La Casa dels Canonges (The House of Canonics), where the President of the Generalitat de Catalunya resides. If you want to take a good photograph of this place, it is essential to arrive very early. This way, you get good lighting (the street is narrow, and not much light enters) and avoid crowds.
La Pedrera, or Casa Milà
🪨 Another Gaudí's masterpieceDe un lado Para otro, Sergio
Casa Milà is located in the city center, on Passeig de Gràcia. So, it's challenging to take a photo without people. The best viewpoint is from the pedestrian crossing on the corner of the building. This way, you get a good perspective, and if you time it right, you will be able to snap a shot with no other people.
