Sunday Brunch in Barcelona

Best places for an elegant brunch

About this guide

This is a list of my favorite Sunday brunch spots in Barcelona. In the last few years, the city has been taken by this culinary trend. Brunching became a part of Barcelona's lifestyle, especially around expats. I chose popular places that bring something unique to the table. Here, you will find excellent food and a relaxing atmosphere, things you need for a perfect Sunday.

It is a Spanish chain with several locations in Barcelona. You can easily recognize their restaurants by the big yellow chick sticker. They serve classic breakfast and brunch options. Eggs are their staples, but you will also find acai bowls, sandwiches, pancakes, and smoothies. At their headquarters in L'Eixample, you can enjoy a meal sitting on the garden terrace and watching real chickens lay eggs. Two hens living here, named after the owner's sisters, can be considered true Barcelona celebrities. I come here for a simple but delicious brunch. My typical order would include eggs benedict, mushroom toast, and a glass of Aperol Spritz.

👵🏼 Grandma’s goodness

This cute and elegant brunch spot is a part of a Barcelona-born franchise. Their interior is stunning, and the food is served in the most beautiful way possible. The place will smash your Insta stories to the next level. They are most famous for their delicious grandma-style cakes, but you will find here both sweet and savory options. My choice is their Epic Avocado Toast (that is the name, epic) and a piece of cake with pistachio and berries. It is a sunny and relaxing space, great for having some quality time with your friends.

Milk Bar & Bistro

👑 Catalan grace

It is one of the restaurants that started the brunch wave in Barcelona. Located in the heart of the Gothic quarter, this place has a style and a very cozy atmosphere. Besides classical brunch plates, there are many traditional Catalan dishes on their menu. It's a good choice if you're looking to explore local cuisine. But if you are not into that, go here, at least, to try their delicious pancakes, which are out of the world. I come here when I want a proper filling brunch (perfect after a night of partying). Their chorizo (pork sausage) with potatoes or a juicy hamburger with goat cheese and piquillo pepper won't leave you hungry. Plus, it is worth paying here a separate visit in the evening. After 7 pm, they serve traditional Catalan tapas. It is always packed in the evening: so, don't forget to make a reservation.

The Benedict

💂🏻‍♂️ English style

The Benedict is a typical English restaurant where you will find all the specialties of English cuisine. Go here for the omelets, pancakes, and, of course, traditional Full English Breakfast with eggs, beans, mushrooms, and bacon. I like this place for the whole anglophilic charm. Try one of their omelets: Iberian with hamon and caramelized onions if you eat meat or Hollandaise with zucchini and champignons if you are vegan. It is located in the Gothic Quarter, right next door to the previous entry, Milk Bar & Bistro. So, if one is full, you will always find a table in the other.
