About this guide

As any touristy city, Barcelona is flooded with mugs, magnets and keychains. They are everywhere. But sometimes you want to bring from your trip something special, memorable for yourself and your loved ones. I've picked up 5 places that will help you find interesting souvenirs.

ART Escudellers is a place for ceramics lovers. It is located in the Gothic Quarter on Carrer dels Escudellers which from the 13th century was occupied by potters and ceramists. From colorful tableware to ornate candlesticks: the things they sell encapsulate the spirit and artistic traditions of Catalonia. Prices vary to suit different budgets. All of the pieces are handmade and will be a great reminder of your trip to Barcelona.

It is a huge comic store located close to Barcelona’s Arc de Triomf. Founded in 1984, this place has become a vital part of the history of European comics. Norma Comics has the widest selection of graphic literature from all over the world. But they also offer a variety of geek memorabilia.

This is a small shop next to the Basílica de Santa Maria del Pi. It sells all kinds of trinkets: posters, postcards, notebooks, jewelry, handbags, and other accessories. Most of the things are inspired by Barcelona and its artistic heritage. A couple, Guro from Norway and Negil from England, who founded this store, say that the place exists to bring a piece of Barcelona to other people’s homes.

Els Encants Vells is a famous open-air flea market in the El Poblenou district. The history of this place dates back to the 14th century, making it one of the oldest flea markets in Europe. Today it occupies a large three-story complex. The place is filled with all kinds of peculiar staff. You can find everything here, literally everything. It is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and is worth a visit at least to feel the energy of the place.

Mercatic is located outside of Barcelona, in the town of San Cugat del Vallès. It is about 25 minutes by train. This big creative space unites antiques dealers, artisans and artists. It is over 100 stores in small colorful wooden houses. I recommend going in Saturday or Sunday when they have live music performances. Keep in mind, that you will need at least half a day for this tour.
